A singer/songwriter from Portland, Oregon, Jennifer Smieja brings her distinctively honest and plaintive take on life and love to her finely drawn songs. With shades of Gillian Welch, Abigail Washburn and Richard Thompson, Jennifer finds her inspiration in the sounds and styles of old-country, blues and alternative folk. “To Measure The Sky“ is her debut album.

When she was a little girl back in Wisconsin Jennifer would sit at the piano lost in a dream. Music took her some place that felt better than anything. She had talent they said, but somehow life got in the way. Now years later she’s reclaimed her true north, and her voice is as pure and personal as you’ll hear anywhere. The country runs through it and it’s a beautiful highway.
