Ah, Dog Fashion Disco. You started your career with quirky rock, evolved into a circus metal act and then you made Adultery, an album which was announced as undefeatable by most fans. I think that was part of the reason you gave up and turned into Polkadot Cadaver. After all, what's the point of making music when you've done your best?

Fortunately, you decided to try again. While similar, Polkadot Cadaver and Dog Fashion Disco are two different beasts that deserve to be separate. Sweet Nothings proved this. It may have been an incomplete mess of an album, but it showed us that Dog Fashion Disco is more rooted in traditional rock than the modernly oriented Polkadot Cadaver.

Now we have Ad Nauseam. And in my humble opinion, it's your best effort yet. Mature, serious but not too serious and above all, clearly something you wanted to make. It seems you have grown out of making weird stuff just for the sake of being weird. To be honest, I like your "normal" music more than the overly avant-garde Mr Bungle pastiches you used to make. No offense intended.

From the catchy title track to the artsy Starving Artist, this album is truly consistent as well. Highlights include Golden Mirage, the funky tune about losing hope, and the heartbreakingly gritty Only the Haunted, to name a few. Covered in Blood is my least favourite song of this album, just because it reminds me too much of Knives Out!, the blandest one of your sideprojects.
