David Kane is one of those guys who ten years from now will at last get his due respects. Kane leads his listeners through a slightly concussed but always focused layers of late night jazzisms with deft timing and humor throughout. Clearly the man studied Mingus, Hubbard, and Art Tatum and added the sonic non verbal of the Beat Poets with a dash of audio Picasso and Dali. Only the mind of a genius like David Kane can come up with a set like this disc that both chills the spine and satisfies the deepest jazz neccesity at the same time. If Charles Mingus woke up in the early '70's and composed his worst nightmare in his finest compositional style this would be the result. The fact that there are coffee houses and dormitories without this music is a blight on all that call itself humanity. Anything by Them Jazzbeards should be scooped up while these titles are available. GET THESE NOW!!!
