These Toronto power-metal lifers recharged their career with an instant-classic 2008 documentary. Their third album since then opens with a jolly slab of pirate lore called “Daggers and Rum”; soon they’re speeding at Motörhead tempo on the locomotive “Runaway Train” and “Run Like Hell.” “Gun Control” has frontman Steve “Lips” Kudlow wondering if weapons do more harm than good, and on several tracks he memorably punches back at those who’ve done him wrong over Anvil’s long roller coaster of a career.
