The music of "Distant Dreams" is a continuation of the journey the Bulgarian vibraphonist began with his debut recording, "Pictures from a Train Window," where many of the compositions are influenced by the rhythms and melodies of Eastern European folk music, but viewed through modern jazz aesthetics. Mentored and influenced by vibes icons Gary Burton and Ed Saindon, Rackipov's rich eclecticism and life experiences provided him the platform for defining his own space in the elite mallet performance world.
“Over the years, Errol Rackipov has matured as a musician and developed his own voice on the instrument, and as a band leader.” His latest, Distant Dreams, is a real triumph. He is playing great (no surprise there), but also has written some exciting and original music for the project. And his group members are really first- rate musicians. That, along with the very professional recording quality of this CD, and you have the complete package. This is what every jazz CD should live up to.” - Gary Burton.
Errol Rackipov - Vibraphone and Marimba
Lubomir Gospodinov - Tenor sax and Soprano sax
David Leon - Alto sax
Martin Bejerano - Piano
Peter Slavov - Acoustic bass
Ludwig Afonso - Drums
