Kurki (Crane) is a Finnish rock band with progressive influences. The band released their first EP called “Sumu on ystäväni” (“Fog Is My Friend”) in 2004. Kurki’s musical views haven’t changed much during the years, but their music has refined due to playing together for four years.

Warped drumbeats, alternately gentle and raw guitars and wavy vintage synthesizers are essential elements of Kurki’s dramatic music. The centre of everything is however the vocalist Kaiti and her mesmerising voice. The members of Kurki are skilled musicians but they have no need of proving that with pointless extensive solos. Instead the band concentrates on playing as a whole and doing what ever is best for their songs.

Kurki’s lyrics are about timeless matters such as natural phenomena, human relations and the place of one individual in the society. On the other hand the lyrics create visions of mystical places far away, matching the atmosphere of the compositions.
