Tony Grey - Unknown Angels (Deluxe Edition) (2018)

'Unknown Angels' is bassist/composer Tony Grey's third album as a leader and is a work of expansive emotional range, great personal significance and stunning virtuosity. Born in Newcastle Grey now resides in New York and has played with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Mike Stern, Hiromi, Zakir Hussain, Branford Marsalis and John McLaughlin.

Carefully chosen musicians are an integral component of 'Unknown Angels', co-produced by Grey and ObliqSound founder Michele Locatelli (who also contributes electric guitar to the title track). To assist him in realising the "story I wanted to tell", Grey aligned a dazzling, simpatico crew comprised of electric and acoustic guitarist John Shannon, pianist/keyboardist Romain Collin, harmonica man Gregoire Maret, and drummers Deantoni Parks and Obed Calvaire. Additional colouring is supplied by special guests U. Shrinivas (mandolin), Selvaganesh (kanjira) and his vocalist brother Mahesh Vinayakram.
