The Amber Light - Play (2018)

The brand-new album 'Play' was mixed by Patrik 'EL Pattino' Majer (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tele, Wir sind Helden) at Berlin's Freudenhaus Studios. The recording allows dreamily melancholy lyrics to flow within an atmospherically interwoven, electrifying sonic tapestry. The Amber Light always sounding multi-faceted from minimalist, crackling, fragile sound spots to mounting, monumental sonic thunderstorms. Sounds a little complicated? Despite occasionally intricate arrangements, The Amber Lights never lose sight of their songs and consistently stick to the leitmotif in everything they do - which is what makes their music uniquely experienceable and worth listening to. So perhaps the result is simply pop music of the more adventurous kind? This could be the simplest and most objective characterisation of their music, rather than losing yourself in that vast jungle of definitions and pigeonholes.
