Dark Sky - Lossless (2017)

London noiseniks Dark Sky return for their second full-length on Monkeytown (Shed, Moderat, Modeselektor). The title track is a wonderfully atmospheric opener that sets the tone for the LP - warm, well-structured techno that also nods to the post-dubstep of early Mount Kimbie and James Blake. Lengthier tracks like ‘Angels’, ‘The Walker’ and ‘Domes’ are primed for the clubs of central Europe, with insistent drum tracking underpinning rich, sprawling keyboards and some gorgeously widescreen atmospherics. The pair’s ability to get the most out of their synthesisers and samplers is apparent on the quixotic ‘Badd’, and interlude ‘Found and Lost’ is a pleasant, weightless palette-cleanser in the middle of the album.
