Holtso & Wittrock - Det' Altid Nu! (2018)

It 'Det' Altid Nu!' is the partner of Jes Holtsø and Morten Wittrock's fourth joint album. An album that once again clarifies that the two routine forces begin writing, singing and playing original, Danish-language blues rock of the simple kind. The two do not go after refinements and probably do not master them - neither technical nor artistic - but that's also alright. Because the two go for authenticity - I think - and at least it is evident in this fourth album, whereupon the listener once again gets acquainted with a living life, bump on the road and a credible blue tone. The best, most well-developed song on the new album is Blue weekend - a song that swings, curls and shines despite the prediction that a blue weekend stands for the door. Otherwise, my experience of the album as a whole is that the absence of sophistication is a problem. For either, the gravity of the lyrics, the compositions of your compositions, the sophistication of the art or the artistic effort must be high-the simple can be beautiful if it is framed by something of this - but that's not the case here. ~Ivan Rod
