Pedro Peruchin Justiz is one of the great pianists of Cuban popular music. At a very young age he played in the orchestras of Chepin Choven in Santiago de Cuba and Casino de la Playa, in Havana. He worked with Mariano Merceron's jazz band and for many years was the pianist of the Miguel Matamoros band while working at the same time in the Tropicana with the orchestra conducted by Armando Romeu. He is the pianist of the golden age of Riverside and in 1956 he codirected with Julio Gutierrez the recording of the record "Cuban Jam Session". He composed various successful numbers and wrote arrangements for performers such as Benny More. At the end of the 1950s he began to record small format records - piano, bass, drums and percussion -in which he felt at ease interpreting standards, the occasional classical piece and well-known Cuban themes. His style influenced many other Cuban pianists. He was born in Banes, Oriente, and died in Havana in 1977.Title: JazzCuba Volumen 08
