This CD is the audio soundtrack to the long, out of print US only released VHS video from 1984 called Pink Floyd's David Gilmour which was recorded and filmed at The Hammersmith Odeon in London in April of 1984. This classic 1984 concert was recorded and filmed towards the end of Gilmour's 1984 European leg of his first solo tour in support of his 1984 album About Face and sees Gilmour joined by an all-star band featuring Bad Company lead guitarist Mick Ralphs, ex-Manfred Mann drummer Chris Slade (who would join The Firm with Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers after the US leg of the About Face Tour ended in the summer of 1984 and he would later join AC/DC), longtime Pete Townshend percussionist Jodi Linscott, keyboard player Gregg Dechart (a Canadian who had played for awhile in Uriah Heep), bass player Mickey Feat (who had just played on the first Fastway album (the band formed by ex-Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke) before joining Gilmour's band) and saxophonist Raphael Ravenscroft and they deliver a blistering performance.

The set features five tracks from Gilmour's 1984 solo album About Face all performed superior to the studio album versions including the spirited opener "Until We Sleep", the rocking "All Lovers Are Deranged", a stellar version "Out Of the Blue" (with David on Yamaha CP-80 Electric Grand Piano), an expanded version of "Blue Light" (with a superb Slade and Linscott drum/percussion solo) and a killer version of "Murder" which has David on acoustic for the first three minutes before strapping on his Black Strat for the finale (Mick Ralphs does a great guitar solo while Gilmour switches guitars). There are two songs performed from his 1978 solo debut which are the excellent "There's No Way out of Here" and a stellar "Short and Sweet" (performed with Roy Harper (whom sang on "Have a Cigar on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album). Lastly, there are two Pink Floyd classics performed here which are both from The Wall. First being the rocker "Run Like Hell" and the stellar closer "Comfortably Numb" (which featured Gilmour's Pink Floyd bandmate Nick Mason on drums).
