Lefty guitarists are rare; a left-handed woman guitarist who sings is even rarer, but that's what you get with Barbara Lynn. This live set includes her biggest hit, "You'll Lose a Good Thing," and the notable "Until Then I Suffer." Lynn remakes William Bell's "Trying to Love Two," but really shines on the soulful Maurice & Mac cut "You Left the Water Running" -- there are two versions: the on stage performance, and a gritty rehearsal take. Cock-a-doodling horns introduce "We Got a Good Thing Going (Oh Baby)," and keeps you awake throughout the song; the Motown ish "Take Your Love And Run," finds Lynn's female accompaniment doing a Vandellas imitation; the title track is a sweet southern shuffler, a la Betty Wright. Lynn didn't record many live sets and hasn't exactly painted the globe in appearances, particularly north of the Mason-Dixon Line in the States, so this is a good introduction to the talented Ms. Lynn.
