The SideCats are on the prowl and are ‘Makin’ Tracks’ with their new cd release. The acoustic quartet purr up a special blend of all original material. The instrumentation of tenor saxophones, baritone sax, guitar, ukulele, flute and acoustic bass makes for a warm, organic and home-grown sound. All songs written by Shirley Jackson and arranged by The SideCats except, CowCat- written by Dawn Hatfield.
The positive chemistry between the musicians comes through in their performance and their music is as genuine as the musicians themselves.

Shirley Jackson, (Toronto Maple Blues Recipient, 2003) a reputable tenor saxophone player in the Maritime Blues scene, has released two ECMA nominated recordings with the blues/swing band Shirley Jackson & Her Good Rockin’ Daddys.
As a songwriter and guitar player, her collection of songs has grown beyond the scope of one genre and The SideCats were formed to showcase the repertoire she has written that appeals to a more warm and organic sound.

Dawn Hatfield (Juno and ECMA recipient) has performed as a Baritone Saxophone player and flautist with a number of Maritime based ensembles as well as bands supporting Halifax showcases for Natalie Cole, Lionel Ritchie and The Temptations. Within The SideCats, Hatfield has added the warmth and mystery of the mighty uke.

Rob MacIntosh is a musician of versatility, playfulness, and soul. MacIntosh has performed in a variety of styles from blues/swing in The Good Rockin’ Daddys to alt./rock in The Blown Gasket Orchestra.

Jef James Wirchenko began playing bass professionally 17 years ago when he was 16 years old. Requiring underage performers permits to stay out all night in the bar scene… all to play roots and blues.

The SideCat ensemble provides an opportunity to create new material and display the member’s diversity in styles and arranging while remaining active members in the blues septet Shirley Jackson & her Good Rockin' Daddys.
