These are great performances, with sound quality as good as you are ever likely to hear for these old recordings. They are: Wagner: Das Rheingold,Richard Wagner: Die Walkure [New York -- December 6, 1941: Helen Traubel, Astrid Varnay, Kerstin Thorborg, Lauritz Melchior, Friedrich Schorr, Alexander Kipnis; Erich Leinsdorf] (which I think is the same as Wagner: Die Walkure (1941), but with a different cover), Wagner: Siegfried (Broadcast on January 30, 1937), and Gotterdammerung.
Now, before you buy, you should know that these are somewhat edited versions of these operas, which was common practice when they were recorded. They are the complete performances that were done, but the performances were not of the complete operas. That is why it all fits on *only* 11 CDs.
Also, although these sound as good as you are ever likely to hear (and the two that are in common with Wagner at the Met: Legendary Performances from The Metropolitan Opera sound significantly better in this set), these are still very old historic recordings, so there is plenty of noise and distortion, and of course, they are mono. So think 78 rpm record quality, and you should have the right basic idea. If you can listen past the bad sound, these are thrilling performances. But, again, the sound quality of this set is BETTER than what you get with the "official" Sony set above for the two operas that are in common.
So, if you are accustomed to such old recordings (the newest is from 6 December 1941), you should be quite happy with the sound quality. But if you have never heard such old recordings, you should be prepared for dreadful sound quality.
There are no librettos included, but each opera includes a booklet discussing the performance, with a synapsis of the opera. Basically, Naxos has simply put the four operas that they sell separately into a thin paper/cardboard case. Within that, each opera is in its own plastic case, of the traditional types for multi-disc sets, so the discs are easy to remove. So there are no unpleasant surprises in the packaging.
Because of the "historic" sound quality, and the fact that they are edited versions of the operas, I do not recommend this as your only Ring cycle. But it would be a good second version to have. If I could only have two recordings of these operas, I would *probably* want this to be one of them.
