This album is a gorgeous celebration of Mike's remarkable voice and talent. Most thrilling is that this album doesn't make easy or predictable choices. There's some incredible pieces that are rarely recorded by an artiste of Mike's stature. His new album confirms that he is one of the most engaging, charming, gifted, talented, committed and impressive singers of his generation and the genre. Most impressive is Mike's ability to write songs that sound like established standards. He opens with his self-penned No Lullaby followed by the haunting September, dedicated to his father, which is arguably the best track on the album. I hope is a glorious song that highlights Mike's effortless tone. There's also perfectly delivered big hits like Goin' Home & Swing Low arranged masterfully by Mike. Stars featuring Daniel Boys is a powerful version of this Les Mis classic. Most powerful is that this album is dedicated to his father who he lost 10 years ago. How could Mike's Dad not be proud of his son's remarkable & continued career & achievements? Ol' Man River for me proves what an incredibly rich and effortless voice Mike has. Packed with pathos, he shines through every note of this thunderously powerful story.
