Encore + Grande is a multinational avant-gardiste band (French and Dutch) consisting of Guigou Chenevier (Étron Fou Leloublan, Volapük, Guigou Chenevier & Les Figures), Guy Sapin, Han Buhrs (Nine Tobs) and Raymund Van Santen (Nine Tobs). Chenevier and Sapin had already worked together in Chenevier?s project with Sophie Jausserand, À l?abris des micro-climats. They also worked on Chenevier?s first solo album named Le diapason du Père Ubu.
Encore + Grande made only one album named Total Bliss. It was released in 1987. Everyone who loves Étron Fou Leloublan should also be appealed by their music. They have a lot of similarities musically but in Encore + Grande, the vocalist is not Chenevier but Han Buhrs. His voice is something of an acquired taste. Some would love it, and some will hate it too. Of course, if you have never heard avant-garde music, this could frighten you right away, but if you are a lover of experimentalism and RIO sound, this might just be a great band for you.
