Mr Twin Sister - Salt (2018)

In this day and age, dropping an album four years after its predecessor counts as a “comeback.” So here it is: Mr Twin Sister, your favorite Long Island “dream & blues” band, is coming back. The now-four piece has announced that their third LP, titled Salt, will be released on October 25. They have also shared “Tops and Bottoms,” their fourth single this year. Oh yeah, and they’re going on tour. Yup; full-on COMEBACK.

Why is the album titled Salt? What — or who — is Salt?

Well, since you asked: according to the press release, it’s “depthless, wandering, wanting, reliant, trapped, restless, waiting, wished upon, released, cinched, trimmed, unseen, erased, outsung, seen, rewatched, unknown,” and a slew of other descriptors. But it’s ALSO the name of a marionette built from wood, pearls, and fabric by leader Andrea Estella and featured on the cover of the LP; an LP that continues the band’s “pursuit of tightly arranged, pop-informed interpretations of American song forms (r&b, funk, jazz, electro).”
