Boney Fields - Bump City (2018)

It's always a pleasure to be faced with an album by Boney Fields, who is certainly one of the best trumpeters of the genre and an extraordinary showman that you can meet on European roads, indoors and at famous festivals. From our point of view, the live album "Jazz à Vienne" marked a turning point in the artist's work as in his vision of music, always more electric. The album "Changing for The Future", his fifth, also set the tone.

On "Bump City" you will not find the excellent guitarist Hervé Samb who accompanied Boney on the previous albums, but the energy is there, and the vitality of Boney Fields even more explosive. Suddenly, com side, we no longer speak of the Bone's Project, but now Boney Fields, because the showman-trumpet player has established itself as such, becoming a trademark, more rock and still jazz / funk, always accessible to all and even more festive. I dare not imagine the upcoming stage performances, which will undoubtedly be even more powerful and exciting for spectators and photographers. According to Boney Fields, "Bump City", which is also the title track of the album, is in its imagination "a city where we celebrate, and where we dance all night" … Paris held, and this is in my opinion the most successful album of Boney Fields, the one where he goes after his sounds and at the end of his dreams.

Even at the level of his voice, Boney Fields brings something much more intense than before, and it is not only the excellent mix of this CD which is the cause. No doubt there has been a form of cultural digestion that allows him here to express himself totally and without any constraint. Also note that the excellent Charles Pasi is invited on this new album. If all blues albums to be released could be inspired by "Bump City", we can not go head over … So, congratulations the artist for this CD that the editorial office of PARIS-MOVE classified as "indispensable" , and we recommend it warmly!
