A film composer and string arranger Inyoung Park (a native of Korea) began her musical journey at the age of six playing violin and piano. Most recently she composed the score for the feature film The Target, which was invited to the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. In 2012. she collaborated with the Korean auteur Kim Ki-Duk as his composer on Pieta. which won the Golden Lion Award at the 69th Venice Film Festival. Inyoung's work in the film was also recognized at the 2012 Women In Film Korea Awards. Her first film scoring credit was with a 2011 South Korean sleeper hit. Poongsan. which screened at the 6th International Rome Film Festival, the 11th Tokyo Filmex and MoMA (New York).
Inyoung was formally trained in classical composition, but she launched her career in Korean pop music, later becoming a highly sought-after string arranger and composer. She has worked on hundreds of string and orchestral recording sessions for numerous Korean artists such as PSY. Lena Park. Yong-pil Cho whose title song of 2013 album was No.1 on K-Pop Hot 100 on the Billboard.
Her string and orchestral works have been recorded all over the world, including New York. Melbourne. Tokyo. Los Angeles. Nashville. London and Prague.
Yet never the one to settle, at the peak of her career Inyoung moved to New York to start a new chapter, enrolling in the film scoring program at NYU.
During her graduate years, she was awarded the 2009 Vincent Jones Scholarship. a full scholarship from ASCAP to participate in the 2009 NYU/ASCAP Foundation Film Scoring Workshop and the 2010 Elmer Bernstein Award. In April 2010. she composed for a screening of the classic Spanish silent film. Electric Hotel (1908) at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. It was at NYU. while working with the medium of film, her talent for negotiating divergent musical languages flourished.
While her music is infused with inherent femininity, it is also noted for unexpected muscle and vigor. It is with discipline of a consummate professional that Inyoung strikes the right note for every piece of music she creates, whether it is for a film or a pop song, making her a truly versatile artist.
At this juncture of her career. Inyoung looks forward to collaborating with directors and musicians who share her passion and commitment, regardless of cultural or geographic distance.
