Black Heat's exceptional sophomore release No Time To Burn is considered an essential part of any 70s funk starter pack and won't break the bank either. The band formed in the early 70s thanks to the creative vision of percussionist King Raymond Green. They would eventually sign to Atlantic Records and release three albums, with No Time To Burn being the happy medium between earnest, raw funk and commercialism. The title track even enjoyed a brief stint on the Billboard 100 in 1974. The rest of the album is an end-to-end enjoyable platter with the highlight being their high powered cover of Kool and the Gang's "Love The Life You Live" which features a flavorful b-boy breakdown. But it does not stop there, tracks like "M&M's" and "You Should've Listened" are dripping with that sexual chocolate groove ooze.
