On Cinder & Bone Veins Full of Static pick up where he left off on June’s Is All ep with another 5 tracks of ambient/drone concerned with a cheerful cocktail of anxiety, social disconnection and isolation. A collage of synth, samples, field recordings and gut-bothering bass, Cinder & Bones’ 6 tracks were created as a sort of scattered, plunderphonic audio memoir, a reminiscence of unemployed days spent drinking dirt cheap red wine and listening to the world passing by in the daytime and the dull thud of parties held in the flat next door come nightfall. A time spent almost entirely indoors where the world outside the front door may as well have been a post-apocalyptic, irradiated wasteland. “There’s nothing beyond these walls but cinder and bone.”

Or to put it another way: whilst similarly abstract in construction Cinder & Bone leans harder into the underpinning bass of Is All track ‘Any of Us,’ using deep, hypnotic beats as ballast for 4 of the 6 tracks’ melancholic sonic meanderings. You could call it Drone n’ Bass, but you probably shouldn’t. At least not in public.
