András Schiff returns to the Goldberg Variations in what will be regarded as one of the classical music events of the year. Two decades after his acclaimed account of the Variations for Decca, Schiff documents Bach’s towering masterpiece again, this time in a live recording for ECM New Series. As the New York Times said, “Mr Schiff is, in Bach, a phenomenon. He has quite simply internalized this music. He doesn’t so much perform it as emit, breathe it.” The fluency of the playing in this concert recording from Basel is quietly astonishing, the technical demands of the work transcended with uncanny gracefulness.

His 1st Goldberg was under the influence of Glenn Gould but this is anti-Gould.
The features (plans, not playing quality) of this recording are:
He uses pedaling much.
He repeats all.
Almost repeat parts are little changed with a little faster or same tempo.
In repeat part he sometimes switches an emphasis of part with less ornament, sometimes earlier downbeat.
And less contrast between main part and double (2nd part).
I think repeat parts and doubles should be various.

If you haven't listened to Ekaterina Derzhavina, try (torrent) !
She has more pockets than Glenn Gould but not eccentric.
At first listening may be so so but the more you listen, the more you will be amazed.

I have Zhu Xiao-Mei's latest recording (2016, 24-44.1), not so specific as her 1st one though.
If you are interested in it, I will share you, pm me :)

Thanks
