Excellent guitarist and composer Marcin Wądołowski, known from several original albums and the formation of The Moongang, Quartado and Elec-Tri-City, together with one of the best European bassists Piotr Lemańczyk, prepared a CD filled with proprietary Preludes for guitar and double bass. Both musicians together heard on the recent album: "When I was", the formation of Adam Czerwiński MAP Trio. This time, Marcin Wądołowski reveals his classicising face to us by presenting a set of 10 short instrumental pieces that should fall under both the tastes of jazz lovers and chamber music. It is worth mentioning that the accompanying guitarist Piotr Lemańczyk with the convention of a chamber duo already faced last year's album "Duology" recorded with the accordionist Cezary Paciorkiem. This time the characteristic sound of his double bass frames the guitar parts of one of the most creative and versatile young Polish musicians.
As a self-contained, closed work, the instrumental prelude began to function thanks to Fryderyk Chopin and later, among others, Sergei Rachmaninov, Alexander Skriabin and Claude Debussy. Earlier, however, the term was used to indicate the introduction to a larger musical work. Today, with the formula of independent preludes, many composers and instrumentalists are measured, instilling in him not only the element of their own artistic personality, but also creating various stylistically pieces dedicated to various instruments.
Marcin Wądołowski makes his debut as a composer and guitarist stylistically in the aesthetics of classical music. First of all, we hear an artist playing an acoustic, classic instrument in a convention requiring exceptional technique and virtuosity. Secondly: compositions prepared by Wądołowski that fill the 3 quarters of the album are music that oscillates around the classical guitar music under the sign of accomplishments in this field of famous artists such as Heitor Villa-Lobos or Hector Berlioz.
