As everyone knows, Germany has various capital cities: Berlin is clearly the tourist capital, Frankfurt is the financial capital, Munich regards itself as the secret capital, Bonn still as the former capital, Stuttgart as the car capital and Mainz as the wine capital. However, there is also a blues capital and that’s called – Osnabrück. There’s no denying it: according to semi-official estimates, there are 2.4 electric guitars and 1.7 harmonicas for every resident in Osnabrück.

An obvious question: how did it come about that Osnabrück is so blues-oriented? Some say, it could be the weather – because the summer there always presents itself like the cold and rainy summer of 2016 in the other parts of the country. However, the most plausible reason appears to be the fact that for the last 40 years the guitarist, song-writer and singer Tosho Todorovic has been active in Osnabrück with his Blues Company – perhaps the most varied, definitely the longest lasting, German blues formation, that has excited, encouraged and influenced countless other musicians during these same 40 years.

In 2016, Todor ‘Tosho’ Todorovic received the first Lifetime Award ever presented at the BiG-Blues-Award for his achievements in blues music in Germany.

The Blues Company celebrated the band’s 40th birthday with a special concert in the SWR Funkhaus in Mainz. Old, New, Borrowed but Blues – the theme of the evening quickly became the title of the album. They thrilled the audience with a set-list consisting of ‘old’ Blues Company titles, new and previously unreleased songs composed by Tosho Todorovic and ‘borrowed’ tracks, i.e. cover versions.

The Company were supported by the Soul Sistaz Seda Devran and Maria Nicolaides on vocals as well as by the Fabulous BC Horns Uwe Nolopp and Volker Winck.
