Born busking the streets of Montreal, the Jazz Street Boyz have been playing old-school jazz inspired from New Orleans since 2010. Their music is festive and leads us straight to the core, to the essentials: The blues and celebration.
With Jérôme Dupuis-Cloutier on the trumpet and piano and Dominic Desjardins on the banjo, tenor guitar and vocals, the Jazz Street Boyz are unforgettable. The spontaneity of their bewitching solos – both live on stage and in the recording studio – reveals an out of the ordinary chemistry accompanied by exceptional guest musicians in quartet or trio formation. The show is a mix of original compositions with old school jazz flavor and an influenced jazz repertoire from New Orleans. It is a very energetic and accessible show that at the same time offers an original and meticulous jazz of his arrangements.
Since the launch of their album Jazz Street Boyz + invités in 2013, the band has performed in many festivals, buisiness and corporate events including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2014, 2015 and 2016, FestiVoix 2015, Concerts de la cité de Sherbrooke 2014-2015, Festival International de jazz de Rimouski 2018, C2 Mtl 2016, and Movin'On 2017, Circo de Bakuza, etc.
Between events, the Jazz Street Boyz are currently working on a new album of original compositions that will be released in February 2019. The original songs Journée d'Amérique latine and Cheap Shot are a foretaste of the universe of this next album recorded in front of a audience at Madame Wood Studio in Montreal.
