James Zollar presents a new previously unexposed "Funk and Brazilian" side of his musicality never showcased in his recording career.
During his formative years in the Bay Area, he was exposed to West Coast Funk Bands like "Sly And The Family Stone" and funk legends "Tower of Power".
He quickly became a fan of the music. Later on when he moved to New York, he recorded with Jazz Funk Master Tom Browne. Zollar's foray in to the Funk is a natural evolution of his style.
His knowledge of Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Funk impressed me so much that going to his house was like visiting a Radio Station.
He is matched with an impressive band of his peers. This recording showcases rhythmic warmth a different genre than the usual straight ahead of Jazz.
We are proud to present James this way.
