In July of 2011 I went into the studio with my tenor and soprano saxophones and flute, five of my most trusted musicians, eight songs and a Vision. The musicians: pianist Roberto Verastegui, bassist Johnathan Fisher, drummer Justin Heaverin, trumpeter Li Xiaochuan and vocalist Kathryn Christie. The material: two original compositions of mine and six arrangements of some of the music which best defines me at this point. The Vision: releasing my first jazz album as a leader.

At this stage in the project the studio time is complete: the recording and mixing are complete, the video has been shot and the musicians have been compensated. The next portion of the project, which requires funding hopefully raised through Kickstarter, consists of digitally mastering the mixes, obtaining mechanical licenses for the music (paying royalties), having liner notes written and album artwork designed, editing the video for two full-length tunes, and finally, printing and duplication of the CDs. Everything is lined up and ready to go, but the funding is what will make this vision possible. If the goal amount is not met by the deadline, then no funding will be available and the donations pledged will not go though (only when the 30 days is up and the goal is reached will funds be withdrawn from the accounts of the backers).

It is very important to me that I am able to follow through with this project. A debut album is a large step for me in the direction of becoming a successful artist. As you can see, there are several ways you can help and a number of different kickbacks, all of which include getting the music for the album in one way or another. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you have about the project. Thanks for taking the time to check out this page!
