Amber Kaye - Like Stone (2019)

The slight southern drawl that dances across Amber's words come from the country life and the bluegrass music she was dipped in from a young age. She grew up on a large Ohio horse farm only a couple hours north of Kentucky, and spent her youth showing horses, fishing, and camping. She started writing songs about the time she could string words together, and moved through several instruments before picking up her dad's old acoustic guitar. During middle/high school she craved the strings under her fingers, and she spent restless nights writing poetry and melodies before bed. Prior to her college degree in music performance, Kaye took time to tour with different bands, playing upright bass or guitar, arranging vocal harmonies, and working on her own material. Throughout her 20s she honed the specific feeling and style presented in her material--often haunting, hair-raising, sometimes adventurous and funny, or just plain sad. Amber Kaye's freshman album speaks of hard truths and letting go, but also of adventure, hope, and anticipation.
