Across the ten tracks of ?The Stillness Of The Stars?, Volsky glides effortlessly from bleary eyed synth hymns for the winter, to driving electronica to soundtrack the summer. Influenced by the more horizontal leanings of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, bass drones and distant drums cushion the melancholic melodies running from opener ?Waxing? and its dissonant sirens to ?Waning? with its low key beatitude.

Shaped by the cold wintery months and written in a short two weeks, the album is both intimate, and wide reaching. Each track name is taken from astronomy terminology, and the reverb soaked keyboards drift into the outer reaches like a rogue explorer satellite, looking for something they will never find. Tracks such as ?Wayward Angels? and ?Asterism? weave strong melodic lines through the album while ?Arcminutes Away? and ?Size And Distance? push into ambient drone territory.
