Toni Tornado - Br - 3 (1971) [Remastered 2002]

1971 was a very good year for Brazilian music too: for example, the albums of Tim Maia and Roberto Carlos from that year. I mentioned these two artists because they're related with Toni Tornado.

As Tim Maia, Toni started his career playing rock and roll; as Tim, moved to United States, where he fell in love with black music.

His relation with Roberto Carlos is stronger than with Tim: Roberto, with his partner Erasmo Carlos, composed two songs for B.R.3, one of them a typical love song, another, a protest one. Getúlio Côrtes, a great composer of classic songs recorded by Roberto, also composed a song to this album.

Toni himself is composer of two songs of this album and Hyldon, one of the most important Brazilian soulmen, is the author of my favorite of this album: "O Repórter Informou".

"BR 3", the song, is from the pen of Antonio Adolfo, a big hit, made for one of the Brazilian festivals of early seventies.

It's a pity, but Toni Tornado abandoned his musical career still in seventies. He became a (bad) TV actor, function which he is well known nowadays. There are people that don't know he was an important name of Brazilian soul!
