The Vagaband - Ten Bells Waltz - the Vagaband Youth Orchestra Live (2019)

The Vagaband live, with the Colegate Nucleo Orchestra recorded at Open, Norwich in September 2018. Singer and songwriter Jose McGill explains "I played Marcus Patteson (director of Sistema in Norwich) one of our more ambitious tracks "Ten Bells Waltz" and asked whether the youth orchestra might be interested in performing it. The age group of the orchestra ranges from 10 to 17 year olds. When he returned a year later with the news of an Arts Council funded collaboration we were instantly excited. We set about writing arrangements for eight of our songs." "Amazingly the band only rehearsed with the orchestra twice. You can sense the transition from nervousness, tension and excitement to a relaxed joyfulness. By the end of the night there were tears of joy from the youngsters backstage. And we all came away with a feeling of having achieved something that felt impossible"
