Marmo - Songbirds of North America (2019)

Following their well-received 2018 effort "Fictional", MARMO returns with a diverse album with the loose concept of: Songs about birds. All three members of the group (Dan Thompson, Christian Loftus & Bill Ludwig) lend their writing skills to this project - their most collaborative to date. Recorded in "various locations", the album has a rare warmth and energy. The group is clearly enjoying themselves and producing their strongest work to date. From country crooners (Ludwig's 'Mourning Dove') to bluegrass-folk epic (Thompson's title track) to Americana rock (Loftus' 'Woodpecker'), this set is full of surprises, moments of joy and heartbreak and some simply fine musical craftsmanship.
