Captain Marryat - Captain Marryat (Reissue) (1974/2010)

Named for Frederick Joseph Marryat, a 19th-century English marine writer, the group was established in Glasgow in 1973. After nearly a year of performances in pubs and clubs in Scotland, the guys went to the studio, deciding to record a single. The sound engineer who worked with them persuaded the musicians to wipe at a full LP. The recorded five tracks turned out to be small and the material was supplemented with an improvised jam “Dance Of Thor”. Under the nondescript cover (on which there was no photo of the group) of a privately-printed album, a good prog-rock was hidden, diluted with psychedelic inserts - with a powerful organ, acid guitar riffs and strong vocals. Only 250 copies were pressed, which were sold during the concerts.
