Shai Wosner is an Israeli pianist who lives in the United States. He was a piano student of Emanuel Krasovsky and studied composition, theory, and improvisation with Andre Hajdu in Tel Aviv, before moving to New York to study piano with Emanuel Ax. After completing his studies at the Juilliard School of Music, Wosner went on to play concerts with major orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Berlin Staatskapelle, and the Vienna Philharmonic, among many others, and he has collaborated with conductors Daniel Barenboim, Jirí Belohlávek, Alan Gilbert, Gunther Herbig, James Judd, Zubin Mehta, Peter Oundjian, and Leonard Slatkin. An avid chamber musician, Wosner has appeared in recitals with Pinchas Zukerman, Christian Tetzlaff, Lynn Harrell, Martin Fröst, and many other musicians. Named a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Wosner has performed and recorded with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Wosner has demonstrated a strong talent for the music of Schubert, which he has recorded on Onyx.
