Nate Connelly - Di Skyver (2015)

After the quiet release of his debut album 'A Dream About Being Lost' in 2013, a slew of great reviews (including mentions in The Guardian and Q Magazine) and a Chinese Media Award for his film scoring work on Juno Mak’s Number 1 Box Office Hit ‘Rigor Mortis’, electronic songwriter/producer Nate Connelly will release his second full-length album ‘Di Skyver’ on 28th August 2015 via Blind Colour, along with a video produced and directed by Moritz Lehr.

Spanning eleven tracks and once again featuring the guest vocals of Amy Robina, ‘Di Skyver’ is a highly accomplished, multi-dimensional work from a master of his craft. From beginning to end, the listener is presented with a complex and emotionally charged, mood-collage of sound - the offbeat, mechanised electro rhythms, lo-fi, saturated, cut-up vocals and powerfully hi-tech, futuristic fx of ‘ReArm Us’, ‘Quit Sound’, ‘7842 Fire’ and ‘Inside’ contrasting with the more hauntingly beautiful, pure and other-worldly electronic soul of ‘Downtake’, ‘Deny’, ‘Welcome The Storm’ and ‘10 Zero’ - featuring an array of melancholic, filtered piano passages, gentle ambient textures and soothing, pitch-shifted vocals.

Title track ‘Di Skyver’ represents a typically seductive shift between the realms of down-tempo, industrial and experimental electronic music – with Mortiz’s Lehr’s accompanying video telling the story of a relationship breakdown, loss of control and the resulting, deep frustrations within.
