This recording of two never before recorded 20th century cello concertos is a welcome addition to my library. The most outstanding feature of this recording is the soloist Scott Ballantyne's cello playing. He has a golden sound and artistry that I have not heard since the great master, Leonard Rose. Of the two concertos, the slow movement of the Frank Ezra Levy concerto is my personal favorite. This performance has that transcending magic that truly beautiful music gives. It is very exciting to discover new classical music that gives such pleasure as this!
