This is the first time that virtually all of Priscilla Bowman's recordings have appeared together, presenting a unique portrait of one of R&B's most underestimated talents.

She had been the vocalist with Jay McShann's band for some years when they signed with Vee Jay Records in Chicago.

Their first release was the No 1 R&B smash 'Hands Off' and after its success she was signed directly to the company.

Her recording of 'A Rocking Good Way' with the vocal group The Spaniels is the original version of this popular number.

On these records there is no question that Bowman was a superior talent to many of the actual charting femme vocalists of the day.
