This is the culmination of 2 years of work, composing and arranging music we love from around the world. The album comes in groups of two, each featuring a different style. First up we have two Latin-American pieces, one by the renowned Brazilian guitar composer Jorge Morel called Danza Brasilera. This is followed by our homage to the Latin-American dances and rhythms we love so much titled Oscar's Philosophy, named after the great Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Next we delve into African rhythms and textures, first up with Tundra - inspired by the landscape around the Sani Pass on the border of South Africa and Lesotho. Following this we have a tune called Harare which is the musical personification of Zimbabwe's bustling capital city as it comes to life from sunrise. Moving from Africa to North America we have two Blues tracks - Mississippi Blues, originally a song by Willie Brown and arranged for solo guitar by fantastic British guitarist Clive Carroll. We put our own spin on it before launching into British guitarist Tristan Seume's Cyder House Blues, inspired by his feelings after his favourite pub closed down... A worthy inspiration for any Blues! We then shift into more Jazz-like textures and rhythms with Small Hours leading into our arrangement of Bill Withers' soulful Ain't No Sunshine. For the final two tracks of the main album we move back to the British Isles and the Folk music for which they are famous. Red Dog Running inspired by time spent in Ireland soaking up the music there, whilst Emma depicts the Scottish Lowlands where Will grew up. The next two tracks are bonus material, the first of which revisits our track Small Hours, this time with the addition of melodies from the brilliant British guitarist Chris Woods Groove. The album concludes with Luke Selby swapping drums for piano for a calming finale - A Cornish Tune, inspired by lazing around on Cornish beaches. Hitchhiker takes you on a journey around countries of the world where we have found a lot of musical inspiration.
