Orchestra Masika Afrika - Dunia Ni Moja (2019)

Orchestra Masika Africa is a Kenyan based 10-man band with members from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo and Angola. The band seeks to revive and grow the big band style of African rumba pioneered by men such as Franco Makiadi & TPOK Jazz.

The aim is to revive the spirit of East African Rumba Orchestras that thrived between the 1950s and 1980s. The band's style of music is heavily influenced by the many cultures present in Kenya. Their sound carries different tribal and contemporary beats with lyrics advocating against social issues like tribalism, corruption, neo colonialism and preservation of nature.

It is their home that they shall be able to reintroduce Kenya’s rumba sound back into the global market that is flooded western influenced commercial material. The band is led by Shyam Jamrock a Kenya of Indian descent.
