Pipi Piazzolla Trío - Rata (2019)

This is the third album of the Pipi Piazzolla Trío, and consolidates what has been done in these years of scenarios, while at the same time it is a step forward, towards the future of Argentine jazz. Recorded in a single day, with many tracks that are first or second takes, Lucio Balduini's galactic guitar and Damián Fogiel's flying saxophone intertwine in glorious rhythmic-melodic counterpoints in which Pipi Piazzolla's drums are just another player.

Each record work of the trio of Pipi is a conceptual bet: if in Ark we had Russian, honoring the film shot in the Hermitage Palace of St. Petersburg, a long sequence shot that allowed to see the whole album as a continuity, and in Transmutation the focus was placed in the displacements and juxtapositions of heterogeneous rhythmic cells, here there is some of this last but, above all, much inspired melody. And a lot of music from Pipi Piazzolla himself, since six of the nine tracks are signed by him.
