Elodie Pasquier composes, plays bass clarinet in several formations of the French jazz scene. Her projects have allowed her to play in Vienna, Mexico City, Brussels, Turin, Luxembourg and performing at various festivals, including opening for Carla Bley and Louis Sclavis.

Pianist, trumpeter, singer and percussionist Gregory Gensse directed numerous projects, including The Very Big Toubifri Experimental Orchestra, a group of 18 musicians for whom he composes and he leads. He teaches Balinese music at the Cité de la Musique in Paris and at the Conservatory of Voiron.

These two young musicians created the orTie duo in 2012 and now released their first CD, consisting only of compositions of their own.

It emanates a real personality of their game. Here, color is clearly announced and is glowing. Nettle does not hesitate to blow the classic blows daring, humor and originality. Bass clarinet Elodie Pasquier reminiscent of Portal “Turbulence” or Sclavis “China”, sumptuous references. The piano Gregory Gensse materializes with phenomenal presence.

The sound has wrapped us by its neutrality, its total absence of compression, its relevance. Recorded at Laborie studio and mixed and mastered by Philippe Abadie, it goes to the point, but an essential particularly neat and analyzed. We are the antithesis of the “loaded” or excessively opulent. Here, everything is strictly in its place, but when the dynamic needs to speak, it does not pretend.
