"Brothers" is the fruit of the tandem Portal-Deconfin, two childhood friends from Bourges, who found themselves in New York and who today deliver a common partition logically entitled "Brothers". This album was conceived just a few weeks after the release of the first album of Geraud Portal, Recall the facts. In 2013, Géraud conquered the United States with his double bass. He lands in New York, in the home of the legendary bassist Bill Lee, father of director Spike Lee. In this house, Géraud met other musicians, also hosted by Bill: Arnold Lee (saxophone), Kush Abadey (drums) and Ben Solomon (saxophone), all three members, moreover, of Wallace Roney's band. From a studio in the basement, the house quickly becomes a sound laboratory for these young musicians, who work there night and day. A few weeks later, Etienne puts his suitcases at Bill's house; the quintet of Geraud Portal has just been born. Their first album will be released in February 2014. In tribute to Bill, it bears the name of the neighborhood in which he lives in Brooklyn, "Fort Greene". Even before the French tour of the quintet began, Géraud and Etienne began writing this second album, which was recorded in December 2013 in New York, at the studio Peter Karl (Brooklyn). Their adventure is now Parisian for our greatest pleasure.
