Sophie Yates may have a few finicky detractors, but you will not count me among them. Here is an outstanding CD by a harpsichordist who is first and foremost an artist. Especially attractive are the clear concise notes, written by the artist in as fine an example of the King's English as any CD notes, and, thankfully, completely devoid of noxious professional jargon or attitudinizing. Ms Yates treats the music as music, not technical and historical mazes, and her performances showcase an ebullient spirit. Handel fans will discover his keyboard music on this CD receives a memorable and invigorating exposition. Ms Yates is a superior artist, and these performances convey a grandeur associated with Handel's major works. These are captivating performances of some exceptional works, some quite forceful, and all quite beautifully recorded.

Anyone curious to hear Handel's music for keyboard should consider this Cd a first choice!
