Generation is a project composed of songwriters/musicians Owen Lee Nolan of Brownsville, Texas and Hieronymus Rhodes of Boise, Idaho. The two met under auspicious circumstances, oddly enough, in the after-math of the bombing of the former Yugoslavia in the Balkans in the early 2000’s, and have been busking and playing all over Central and Eastern Europe, until recently. After making the trek back to America, they cobbled together some of their own songs and made this collection. “Playing in the Elysian Fields”, to be released July 23rd, is an eclectic Americana album, with hints of Pentangle influenced British folk (Julia) and Tom Pettyesque rock sounds (Weimar Redoux) flavoring a roux of raw country. The single “You Do, Too” is sure to liven up any dance party, and “Help Me Cross the Borderline” will undoubtedly be a sought after funeral dirge, if you’re into that sort of thing.
