A group formed in 1994, under the artistic direction of the d.j. Gianluca “agip-jazz” Pandullo. the first turin acid-jazz band to perform prevailingly its owner songs (mainly created by the piano performer Corrado Abbate): in fact the band place only a few covers and in any case always with a touch of originality.
The primitivo music is a mix of afro-american jazz of the sixties and seventies and typically funk and latin atmospheres, but these are only the starting point from which the group steps towards its own aims of high quality musical content.
The original songs certainly reflect the fusion experience moods in the eighties by some members of the group and achieved through the eye of the contemporary jazz musicians: all songs produce a deep musicality, deriving from a constant attention given to all kinds of music worthy of some concern.
The rythmic part formed by jazz musicians (Abbate, piano- Nicola. double bass and Fontana, drums) tends to bung the sound of the group nearer to the contemporary jazz and on the other side, the presence of the argentin percussionist Luis Casih, a part from the important solo interventions enriches the base rythmic combination with colours and shades sometimes unforeseeable.
The guts and musicality of Danilo Pala, a real tenor sax virtuoso, lend to the whole a powerful and 'hard' mark resulting in the Primitivo, a group full of temper, particularly efficacious in the live performances.
