Non-RSD version of the excellent Greatest Hits performed acoustically from the legendary band The Cure. They rose to fame in the late 70's and early 80's as the post-punk / alternative scene was then blooming, The Cure being at the forefront. Curated by Robert Smith himself, Greatest Hits & Acoustic Hits provides an insight to their transformations as a band, delving into a selection of their gloomy goth-tinged tunes right through to a range of their infectious pop-driven hits and serves as a taster to twenty years of their highly influential music.
Here we have the 'acoustified' version of the Greatest Hits. Instead of electric bass, they use acoustic or double bass guitar. Instead of synths, they use everything from grand pianos, foot powered pump organs, accordions, and even thumb pianos. Even Robert Smith's trademark voice is au naturale, no fake back up vocals or overdubs. Amazingly, it sounds just as alive as ever. They could play these songs around the campfire and still have the electricity as if they were plugged in. So it's your choice, electric or unplugged, but you can't go wrong either way.
