The Rockats - The Good The Bad The Rockin' (1997)

Before tattoos and spinning upright bass became rockabilly standards, and before the wave of 80s and 90s neo-billy bands, there were the Rockats.
With origins in London in the late 1970s, the Rockats were among the first to add a dash of anarchy to the classic rock n’ roll styles of late 1950s American artists such as Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins. Reminiscent of another era, yet brand new, the Rockats paved the way for countless other rockabilly revivalists that followed, attaining and retaining recognition as pioneers of a subculture that would resound for generations.
Dibbs Preston (vocals), Smutty Smiff (upright bass), Danny B. Harvey and Barry Ryan (guitars), and Louis King (drums) form the Rockats lineup best known for the 1983 hit single "Make that Move." Together, these cats deliver the swank harmonies and swinging grooves that have been proven to tear the roof off – and do it in style – every time.
With a history that includes appearances on numerous network television shows, such as Midnight Special, American Bandstand, and The Merv Griffin Show, a featured performance in the motion picture Where the Boys are 84, a photo collaboration with Andy Warhol and touring with the Clash, Kiss, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Thin Lizzy and The Pretenders, the Rockats have cemented their place in rock history.
The legacy lives as the Rockats continue to shake things up with Rockin’ Together, their 2013 release on roots label Lanark Records. Producer Quentin Jones ensures that landmark Lanark sound, with warm analog equipment that stays true to the classics, delivering a feel that’s reminiscent of yesterday while still relevant today.
The Rockats are embarking on a U.S. tour in fall 2013, bringing their iconic brand of high energy, high talent rock n’ roll across the country. So whip out the grease, do up your pompadours and pin-curls, and get your dancing shoes on …. because the Rockats are coming to town.
