Broken_Canyon - The Things You Did to Me (2019)

One of the first wave of new Dream Catalogue RESIDENTS, the New York guitar and electronics whiz BROKEN_CANYON takes her next step after a flurry of releases with a new album on limited edition cassette for label imprint Eternal Fortune London.

Taking a step away from her ‘mektrix’ concept for this record, ‘The Things You Did To Me’ contains more personal reflections of the artist’s childhood, with memories of traumatic events that happened providing a fertile influence for the meditative and contemplative ambient work. The album sees a return to the artist’s earlier influences – a more ambient and considered work that pulls from dreampunk ideas, with less of the abrasive sound she produced in more recent releases such as Dethblade, and also away from the more techno-oriented work such as her PYRAMIDS drop from earlier this year, ‘Drain’, showing off her eclectic range as an artist, excelling in an area that fans of Remember, Sangam and HKE’s ambient productions will enjoy.
