Jamoo discovered his father had a tavern on the crossroads, a place where day and night mixed, and therefore everything happened at the same time. 17 years passed until one orange afternoon a friend insisted they go see for themselves what was going on in that spot. Dizzy and confused from the jazzed atmosphere, Jamoo — looking straight into his father’s eyes — ran away not to return for many years. Sam, Jamoo's father, was a tough man and did not expect this sort of visit.
Ups and downs, years went by. In that same joint Jamoo experienced something, he would never forget where he heard Nina Simone, Cecil Taylor, Max Roach and so many other greats for the first time. When his father passed away, following his path, Jamoo opened a café with live music. A funny establishment where drinks and smokes, jokes with sounds, birds and plants and even bugs all celebrate because after all, what else can you do in the jungle?
This album is dedicated to those who, like J, surrender to the mystery and follow their hearts.
